and company was Cincinnati Microwave (I think Valentine came out of there) and they do the job of detecting the cop signal long more than enough they get me. My first detector, back in 1981, was a Radio Shack (yes I cheapo at the beginning), switched to a Bell and the Escort. The difference between them was false alarms and distance of the first warning. Since I had three cars at home and traveled often and rented cars my next step was to buy a Solo I with cordless technology (read batteries). It did the job without the cable even thou it had less early warning than the cable one but still was enough to avoid the ticket. To shorten the story. I speed over the limit every single day and since 1981 I have receive only three speeding tickets. First one he was behing me at the traffic light and didn't see him he tried to catch me getting up to 70 mph and couldn't catch me until the next traffic light sure enough I got one. The second time doing 80 in a 55 (rented car) I see those liht approachin faster than me and accelerate to 85 to leave him room to pass and when he aligned with me yeap it was a trooper. Got another. Third one was this year rushing to get to a store before they close. Didn't expect a radar at the place slowed to 65 without using the brakes, looked behind and could profile the cop car and kept my speed but sure enough it was a silver Rustang. A bad decision got me another. To answer you in a short sentence, there are less expensive products that do the job.
...guess it depends on who is using it, the only thing I dont like is how big the thing is, looks funny - Posted by: Insomniac67J on March 11, 2004 at 8:59 PM had mine uplugged for a year then decided to sell it to a member who needed one, then I had a hole to fill. - Posted by: greyzx on March 11, 2004 at 7:52 PM .
